Rossmann Magyarország Kft.

When we have committed to employing disabled workers in 2013, we did not even imagine that our best practices could help other companies to find good solutions. We are proud of our success in employing 47 people with reduced work ability. It is important to provide them a job, working environment and team where they feel useful again after several years outside the labour market. Our secret may be that everyone takes his or her part during the whole process from the bottom of their hearts.

What´s the solution?

Our company started to become involved with the employment of disadvantaged workers back in 2013 when we contacted the Salva Vita Foundation which works in the field. At the beginning, we tried to identify the scope of activities that could be undertaken by disadvantaged colleagues. The first task we identified that was suitable was the labelling of our private-label products.

The selection of candidates was done during open days, where all of the participants were given as much information as was needed to enter into a contract. Another important thing is that the wages of employees are not related to efficiency indicators so that everyone can work at their own pace and capacity. With this, we take care that these employees fulfil their duties as well as we can minimally expect.

In 2015 the Equal Opportunities Plan for our organization was drawn up. We are committed to following the principles of this document, not only in the case of disadvantaged worker employment, but also in terms of other equal-opportunity-based topics.

To help our disadvantaged workers integrate, we have organized training since 2016 for all employees who may come into contact with them.

Business connection

By employing a larger share of disadvantaged workers, we contribute to making significant progress towards full employment, which will lead to economic stability in the long run. The ethical functioning of our company is a starting point in the drive for sustainability, and will be reflected in our business outcomes in the longer term.

Results

As a consequence of our program, between 2013 and 2016 the number of disadvantaged workers in our company increased from 1 person to 44. Also as a result of our endeavours, in 2015 we won the Handicap-friendly Workplace prize, which is a great honour and also responsibility for us in the future. The implementation of our Equal Opportunities Plan is now a priority.
